Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.1 Beta


Red Hat has announced the availability of the beta release of Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.1: "Red Hat is pleased to announce the availability of the beta of the first update to Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6. This beta is an update to the Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 platform that was made available to customers beginning in November 2010." Updates in this release include a new optional convention for naming network interfaces, full support for hot-adding of CPUs and memory, kernel scheduler updates and performance improvements, a new driver for Intel Generation 6 Graphics integrated into the Sandy Bridge processor, improved support for the configuration of WiFi Protected Access (WPA) Enterprise and IPv6 in NetworkManager, and many other updates. Red Hat Network subscribers can obtain the product from the usual place: "The software and installable images are available for download via the beta channels in Red Hat Network (RHN)."
