Philip Papadopoulos has announced the release of Rocks Cluster Distribution 6.1, a CentOS-based open-source toolkit for real and virtual clusters: "The latest update of Rocks, code name 'Emerald Boa', is now released. Emerald Boa is available for CentOS 6.3 (Rocks 6.1). The Rocks-supplied OS rolls have all updates applied as of November 27, 2012. AmaroK 2.6.0 Has New Features for iPod, iPad and iPhone

AmaroK 2.6.0, a music player for Linux and Unix with an intuitive interface, has been announced by the AmaroK development team.

After a development period of over seven months, the new Amarok version is finally here with a wealth of new features and improvements.

AmaroK 2.6.0 Highlights:

• A complete overhaul of the iPod, iPad and iPhone has been done, including solid support for device playlists;
• Transcoding for iPod-like and USB Mass Storage devices is now supported;
• The Free Music Chart service is now activated by default;
• Embedded Cover support for Ogg and Flac files has been added;

Angry Birds Added 15 New Levels For iOS Users

New version of Angry Birds 2.2 hit on the market recently with additional 15 new levels for iPhone & iPad users causing propelling challenges for the game lovers. iPhone 5 Production kicked off in ASIA

After getting the clump of news about iPhone 5, Taipei based reports affirmed another flash which states that iPhone 5 production has initiated by Pegatron in their factory located at shanghai Asia.  This indicates that the market is going to be bombarded by new iPhone in real time soon as Pegatron is one of the major manufacturers of iPhone.

  

This update is preceding the similar updates that broke up on surface early last week. RIM’s Blackberry 10 Vs. Apple iPhone 4S

Blackberry 10 Smart Phone – Launch of this new weapon from RIM has delayed until 1^st quarter of 2013 in order to achieve perfections after witnessing the drop of 33% sales in 2012. The Much awaited smartphone by RIM has already caused a great amount of stir among the smart phone lovers, who must be disappointed at the delay. But on the other end, speculations about Blackberry 10 are also mounting rapidly. It will not be difficult to say that RIM is planning to counter the entrenched euphoria of IPHONE, under the new CEO, who has been busy in restructuring and reorganizing the company in order to inflict a new life into “About-to-Die” Blackberry brand through Blackberry 10 smart phone.


According to the leaked specifications, the new Blackberry 10 phone would be launched in L-series touch phones and N-series QWERTY keypad phones respectively which would have the capacity to outdo IPhone 4S. L-series is said to be having the higher resolution than the Iphone 4S, it is expected to measure 55mm in width along with the screen resolution of 768 x 1280 which would be OLED or an LCD display with 356 ppi pixel density while IPhone 4S, in comparison, can measure 58.6 mm in width along with 640 x 960 pixels resolution screen with 330 ppi pixel density.
Further, the QWERTY based Blackberry N-series would measure 52 – 53mm in width, support 720 x 720 resolution display with 330 ppi pixel density. When it comes on display Blackberry 10 seems to outdo Apple IPhone retina display.


The Leaked images of Blackberry 10 suggested that it would be thinner than iPhone 4S and would be equivalent to Samsung galaxy. Rumors reported that RIM has also been testing TI OMAP5 and Qualcomm processors, both of these would come along with 1.5GHz dual-core processors. Apart from that, this new smart phone may also include 1GB RAM, Internal storage expandable to 32 GB via micro SD card, an 8 Mega Pixel camera with 1080p HD video recording and Wi-Fi range of 2.4 GHZ b/g/n – 5GHz a/n. All the other internet and browsing feature would also be the part of it like other smart phones.
This shows that RIM has been taking this new product as a savior. That is why they have delayed the launch of it from Q4 of 2012 to Q1 in 2013. Though the Blackberry 10 has developed the desirable get up and go among public but would it be able to out perform iPhone supremacy?  Well this is yet to be seen.

TomTom confirmed as official partner for iOS 6 Maps

TomTom has announced it is providing the mapping data for Apple's new operating system, which was unveiled at WWDC this week.
Apple has shunned Google in its next iteration of its mobile platform, with a brand new mapping solution coming with iOS 6.
Engadget initially reported the possible partnership between Apple and TomTom, before receiving the following statement from the sat nav manufacturer: "TomTom has signed a global agreement with Apple for maps and related information."

The end of in-car sat navs?

The move by Apple to provide its own mapping software, along with turn-by-turn navigation, sees it follow in the footsteps of Google's successful offering on Android handsets.
However with more and more people now getting free access to navigation software on their phones, has TomTom seen the opportunity to ditch dedicated devices in favour of handset based solutions?

Analyzing screen-to-body size ratios of top Android handsets

It’s a well known fact that there’s nothing like a bit of graphing to brighten up a geek’s day. This seems to be well understood by a Reddit user that goes by the name of “Thare” who, after embarking on a search for a new Android phone that had the largest screen while maintaining the smallest possible size, decided to share the wealth of information that he had gathered.
It will come as no surprise that of the phones he compared the Samsung Galaxy Note ended up at the top of the heap having 66.9% of its body area made up of touch-screen real estate. Of course, no one can really call the Note a small device, unless they possess Shaquille O’Neal-sized hands.

While this isn’t a comprehensive study of all the available Android devices on the market, Thare did a good job including a range of the most popular devices across the four US carriers. Samsung also garnered the second spot on the list with its yet to be released Galaxy S3 (which of course is made for humans) which has 66.1% of its svelte design available for touch interactions. HTC rounds out the top three with its EVO 4G LTE phone running on Sprint. Its 4.7-inch screen gives owners 66% of real estate to play with.

iPhone owners won’t be surprised to see the 4S coming in next to last place, with the trade-off being of course those beautiful Retina displays that Apple is installing in the world’s most popular smartphone. Which leads to an interesting thing to point out. While the Galaxy Note certainly has a large screen, it also has the distinction of having one of the lowest pixel density’s in the chart. While it’s the first Android device to sport a higher resolution than the 4S, the iPhone still takes better advantage of the space it has to work with by having a pixel density of 326 ppi compared to the Note’s 285.

While the comparison of different devices is certainly interesting, probably the real gem that is visualized is the slow progression we are seeing in the mobile industry towards larger screens installed in consumer devices. With rumors abounding that Samsung has retooled many of its assembly lines to mass-produce its flexible OLED screens, it’s conceivable that we could, sometime in the near future, see bezel-less devices to hit retail stores. While market analysts say that it won’t be until 2017 before we see the market dominated by flexible display devices, it’s certainly interesting to think about the possibility because bezel-less handset will totally change this list.

Rumors point to an 'iPhone 4S'

We may see an incrementally upgraded iPhone 4 before Apple stamps the number '5' on a new phone.

In a similar move to what the company did after the iPhone 3G, a new report suggests Apple plans to upgrade the iPhone 4 with slightly improved hardware, but it won't be a brand new gadget built from the ground up.

Jeffries and Co analyst Peter Misek said he has insight into the firm's likely plans. "According to our industry checks, the device should be called iPhone 4S and include minor cosmetic changes, better cameras, A5 dual-core processor, and HSPA+ support," he said.

HSPA+ is the mobile network standard on which AT&T's 4G network runs. AT&T has one of the largest 4G coverage areas in the country, but it is not nearly as fast as the technology offered by Sprint or Verizon.

Up until now, speculation had been rampant that Apple would be launching the iPhone 5 in just a few months. Now it looks like that timeline may still be correct, but it's just not quite the iPhone 5 yet.

The move would make sense, especially since Apple just recently launched the white version of the iPhone 4, and Verizon customers are only now beginning to get into the market. It may be too soon to launch a completely new device to tell all those recent customers their purchase is already obsolete.

After all, it was about two years between the launch of the iPhone 3G and the iPhone 4, so as long as we get an iPhone 5 by the spring of 2012, Apple will still be on the same track.
