How to install Flash player on Ubuntu?

sudo apt-get install flashplugin-installer

The flashplugin-installer package provides the NPAPI plug-in for Firefox. If you chose to install certain third-party software when you installed Ubuntu, flashplugin-installer is probably installed already. Otherwise you can install it and restart your browser.

Install the Flash plug-in

Flash is a plug-in for your web browser that allows you to watch videos and use interactive web pages on some websites. While HTML5, which is a more modern solution, is increasingly offered, there are still some websites which won't work without Flash.

If you do not have Flash installed, you will probably see a message telling you so when you visit a website that needs it. Flash is available as a free (but not open-source) download for most web browsers.

There are two kinds of plug-ins available:

NPAPI for Firefox and other Gecko-based web browsers
PPAPI for Chromium and other Blink-based web browsers including Opera and Vivaldi
browser-plugin-freshplayer-pepperflash
Some features of the PPAPI plug-in, such as 3D acceleration and premium video DRM, are not available in the NPAPI plugin. If you use Firefox or some other Gecko-based browser and need those features, you can install the browser-plugin-freshplayer-pepperflash package. It's a wrapper which makes Firefox use the PPAPI plug-in.

Make sure that adobe-flashplugin is installed.

Open a terminal window by pressing Ctrl+Alt+T and install the browser-plugin-freshplayer-pepperflash package:

sudo apt install browser-plugin-freshplayer-pepperflash

Restart your browser.

Install Chromium OS on USB Flash Drive with Ubuntu/Linux Mint

This article is for those who want to install and run ChromiumOS onto a USB storage device. Let us see how it can be done with the OS image.

Open the terminal and run these commands to download the ChromiumOS image to your home folder:

mkdir ~/ChromiumOS; cd ~/ChromiumOS
wget -c http://goo.gl/ICSpt -O ChromeOS-Vanilla-3274.0.zip
unzip ChromeOS*.zip
mv ChromeOS*.img ChromeOS.img

Run the following commands and to identify the USB device:

fdisk -l

If you mounted the USB flash drive as /dev/sdb1 on your system. Use the command and unmount the USB device:

sudo umount /dev/sdb1

Use your USB device name and replace /dev/sdb1
Run the following command to create a bootable USB device with the Chrome OS image. It will delete all data from your USB device.

sudo dd if=ChromeOS.img of=/dev/sdb1 bs=4M
Or
sudo dd if=ChromeOS.img of=/dev/sdb1 oflag=direct

Boot from the Chromium OS USB flash drive after finishing the process. To boot from USB storage devices, you can use the Plop boot loader too. the ChromiumOS VM can download and use from http://goo.gl/G0ZSk when you fail to create a bootable USB stick.

Adobe is Nixing Flash Player Support for Android

As noted here yesterday, Google's new version 4.1 of Android, "Jelly Bean," is a substantial upgrade of the mobile OS. It's faster, has slick predictive features, and overhauled user interface components. However, it is worth noting that just as version 4.1 arrived, Adobe announced that there will be no certified implementations of Flash Player for Android 4.1.
"Beginning August 15^th we will use the configuration settings in the Google Play Store to limit continued access to Flash Player updates to only those devices that have Flash Player already installed" says a post from Adobe. "Devices that do not have Flash Player already installed are increasingly likely to be incompatible with Flash Player and will no longer be able to install it from the Google Play Store after August 15^th."
Adobe's partners usually build Flash into their devices, but many users of Android devices have been accustomed to downloading Flash players for their devices. Beginning with Android 4.1, Adobe will absolutely limit access to Flash Player via Google Play to devices that already have the program installed.
This may annoy many Android users, but the news isn't a surprise. In November, Adobe said that it would abandon Flash development for mobile browsers. Adobe has also drawn the ire of Linux users for standoffish policies toward the platform.
The underlying problem is that Flash is a form of Esperanto on the web. Numerous analyses have determined that approximately 80 percent of the video housed on the web is Flash-based. Flash is also a platform that new applications get built around, so limiting its flexibility on popular platforms ranging from Android to mobile browsers to Linux is very territorial behavior.
